High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. I loved my big dinner at Burma Town. We were a group of 8 which is large for the size of the restaurant. We were there on Mother's Day. We had the Tea Leaf Salad. Best one I have had so far. We had the Angel Wings which were wonderful. Also the Boa sandwiches really stood out. I loved how you get one shrimp, one pork, & one beef. The ingredients here are top notch. I loved the attention to detail. We also had the garlic fries,Kimchi potstickers,BBQ garlic noodles , a Burmese fish chowder soup, coconut rice, & chicken satay.. We also had desserts.both excellent. All the food was great. I enjoyed the Angel Wings, the Boas, and Tea Leaf salad the best. After dinner the waitstaff brought all the ladies at the table little bouquets of flowers. Nice touch. The prices are reasonable for the high quality of the food. I will be back for more.

Crispy Angel wings are insane...I am addicted.... tea leaf salad very different but tasty...Kimchi Potstickers were good too. Potato chicken Curry with the coconut rice is fantastic. only let down was the Braised Beef special as it was a tad overcooked, but still good. Jennifer and other male servers were fantastic and friendly. The lychee cake and mango custard were great too. This place will be a new regular haunt for us... yay!

This place is a hidden gem!! I took my girlfriend to Muir woods on a hike for her bday then we stopped by Burmatown when they opened at 5pm. This place was it!! The flavors in the food were amazing!!! The Somosas were really good, bao buns were to die for( I poured the red hot sauce left over from Somosa's on the beef boa buns!! I highly recommend trying it!! it was so good), the Garlic noodles were delicious and full of flavor as well. The nice lady that works there actually brought out two different hot sauces after she noticed I was pouring hot sauce on the bao buns, one to pour over our noodles and the other to pour over another beef dish we ordered. The Einstock White ale beer that they had there was crisp and went well w the food that was served. This place is a must try! I look foward to trying the oxtail stew next time I visit!

Amazing!!!!! A dinner well spent. I'm not the one who would usually enjoy spicy food, but I ate every last bite. Their bread is delicious and they even have fries. I am in love with their beef garlic noodles!!!!

Wonderful place to eat! The service was very good and the food came fast and fresh. Everything from the booze to desert was fantastic. I had an ipa that was great to start. We had the chicken wings, garlic noodles, some kind of beef sandwich/taco thing, a mango salad (my favorite), and a green tea pudding jello dish that was awesome! Get there early. We beat the crowd. There was line out the door for this great eatery.

Words cannot express how much I love this hidden gem in Corte Madera. My wife and I discovered Burmatown while driving home from Tomales Bay. Famished and not expecting too much we were blown away! Starting with their Chicken Wings, following with their Tea Leaf Salad and finishing with their mouth watering Baos! My wife cannot go two weeks without her Burmatown fix! It's less expensive than diamonds with a similar effect... A happy wife makes for a happy life! My belly is full and my wife is happy! Thank you, Burmatown!

Simply the most San Francisco quality restaurant in Marin. Great flavors at a great price with an awesome staff.

Wow, the tea lead salad was tossed and explained in detail at my table. Filling and super healthy. After feeling filled and healthy, I tried to matcha green tea panna cotta for dessert. I'd eat here every day if I lived closer.

I've eaten here twice and enjoyed the food and wine both times. The samuses are great and the garlic noodles are addictive. The potstickers are also a good choice. The 20 ingredient salad is fresh and flavorful. The wine choices are good. There is usually a wait to get in and I think it's worth it.

I have just recently (in the past year) discovered Burmese food. I'm a huge fan of Tea Leaf Salad, so I was very happy to see Burmatown open in Corte Madera. They offer a limited menu for take out orders. I've now ordered (take out) twice: both times I got the salad, and last time I added the Hoisin Pork with Noodles. Everything is well prepared and very flavorful with generous portions. Both times they were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food is very good and I think my next visit needs to be a dine-in experience in order to take advantage of their full menu.

Really great service and food. Its great to taste some new flavors in Marin that are different than the typical cuisine that can be found. The servers were very kind and I could see how hard they were working. I work in the restaurant business and I noticed how much they were working their butts off all night. I had the wonderful opportunity to speak to the chef who was absolutely lovely. Can't wait to head back with some friends.

I'm trying this restaurant for the 2nd time and this time we had 12 people. We order almost everything on their menu so we can try everything. The food turned out great and the service was awesome. Their servers were really friendly. I have no complains about their food. Every single dish I had today was just awesome! The food came out really quick. I would definitely come back to this restaurant since they have different specials every month. I would love to try all their specials on their menu!!!!!

I was lucky enough to have a chance to try this new restaurant during its grand opening last week and it did not disappoint! They are currently serving a limited dinner menu, but have plans to serve a more extensive menu soon and add lunch service, too. We ordered the kimchi potstickers, angel wings, and platha and mint yogurt dip for appetizers. - The potstickers are some of the best I've ever had. - Also, make sure you ask for the angel wings spicy for an added kick. They were so good, I wanted to order more! - The platha is a flaky layered bread similar to roti and it was great as well. For our main dishes, we shared the tea leaf salad, pork and kabocha squash curry, coconut chicken noodle soup, and their special of the day, the salmon and soba noodle salad. - The tea leaf salad had many textures from the nuts and beans and the tomatoes, lettuce, and cabbage gave made it very refreshing. - The pork curry was very flavorful and paired well with their jasmine rice. - The coconut chicken noodle soup is very different from your average Campbell's chicken noodle, it had so many layers of flavors from the coconut milk, garlic, and lemon, which brightened the whole dish. - Last but not least, the salmon from the special was cooked perfectly and had a yummy miso glaze on top. We even had room for dessert and shared the lychee panna cotta with a strawberry coulis. They used real lychees and pureed it, it was so good!!!! Overall, the service was excellent and attentive. I love the food and can't wait to bring more friends. Glad to see this addition to the neighborhood!

Our group of 16 people loved the food. Such a great ethnic establishment for Marin. Excellent Burmese food. We especially enjoyed the tea leaf salad, chicken wings, and short ribs/potato curry.

Great to see a Burmese restaurant in Marin. Nicely designed small space and friendly service. They took good care of our group of 4 on a Saturday night and even made room for our baby in a car seat. The angel wings were very good. I may have been there on an off night but several of the dishes left some room for improvement. The tea leaf salad and coconut curry noodles looked great but were bland and missing the zesty complex flavors we love in Burmese food. Looking forward to seeing Burmatown hit its stride soon.

Exciting things are happening in Marin - Hello Burmese food and thank you for expanding our bubble. This restaurant might be small but it packs a hard punch when it comes to flavor. Started with the potstickers which were absolutely fab O. Perfectly cooked, had a wonderful pork, kimchi filling and was accompanied by an amazing soy citrus sauce. The chicken baos were good. And the basil shrimp stir fry and coconut rice had lovely flavors of tangy, sweet, and a bit of heat. The service was friendly, attentive and knowledgable. I am so happy that Burmese food has been introduced to Marin - and I have a sneaky suspicion it is here to stay. Until Next time Burmatown!

I've eaten here twice with my wife and both times I was extremely happy with the experience. It is a lovely little family run restaurant. Our food was creative and unique. We look forward to eating there again soon. Keep in mind that it is a small restaurant, so it is typically easier to get a table if you go early or late. Also, I read some of the negative Yelp reviews before I posted this and I guess it isn't a perfect restaurant for everyone. But it's a perfect restaurant for a guy like me. If you don't like Burmatown I would suggest PF Changs or The Cheesecake Factory.

Great little place! We got seated right away...sounds like some nights there's a line. Had the Kimchee potstickers-very good! Short Rib Curry-my favorite of the evening. And the Chicken Curry noodles that they mix up table side. Super fresh tasting. Loved it. Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc was great with everything. We were headed out of town and had to hit the road...I told our server that I wish I had time to have the Mango Pudding...but seriously we were already T plus an hour because of work and traffic...so the server threw in a little freebie for the road. Boom! Good times. I love this little place.

It's a nice atmosphere and the service was good, but the food was pretty average. There are better Burmese places in the Bay Area.

  • R T.

Although there is a wait to get in, it is well worth it. Everything I have ordered is consistently fresh, wonderfully prepared and always so delicious. The tea leaf salad is amazing and my favorite! The food is never too greasy or extremely salty like the other Burmese restaurant (the one in San Rafael) - I believe there are just two Burmese restaurants in Marin and I highly recommend only Burmatown!

Everything at this place is so fresh and so delicious. Ever since it first opened, it is always packed so you have to get there early! The staff is so friendly and the service is always quick and efficient.

This is the best casual dining, asian restaurant to hit Marin! The flavors are outrageous, dynamic and feel like home. The environment is also super cozy and simple. If you're looking for something hot and new, passing by or in the mood for some tasty food, Burmatown is a MUST! You will not be disappointed.

We have eaten here twice and picked up take out twice - the food and service is consistently delicious and attentive. Order off the special menu, you won't be disappointed. Their menu isn't extensive but every dish is delicious. And what makes our experience complete is the staff - warm, friendly and accommodating. We are so happy Burmatown has opened nearby.

Excellent. Went there with wifey last thursday. We started off with Angel wings, we than ordered the Basil Shrimp and the fresh roasted veggies. Every thing was tasty and the service was great ( even Mom the chef came out of the kitchen to check on the guests). This is a family run business and a welcome addition to the Marin restaurant scene.

My boyfriend and I came to Burmatown for the first time on a Thursday night. It was surprisingly busy considering they have only been open for about a week which we took as a good sign! It sure was... The place is small and quaint. Very cute and clean! The atmosphere was alive with soft background music and what looked like to be many other tables having an enjoyable time. Staff was very kind and attentive! The chef even come out to greet us which really made us feel welcomed. We started off with the crispy angel wings. They were awesome! A light crispy batter with plenty of juicy meat. The sauce was nice and sweet with a mild chili spice. The cilantro sprinkled on top was unique for me to have on wings, but I thought it gave a great freshness! Next we had the tea leaf salad which is a must try when it comes to Burmese food! I thought it was perfect. Fresh ingredients all mixed together at your table. You can never go wrong when fried garlic is in the picture! The entree we shared was my absolute favorite of the whole night. We got the beef short ribs with potato and a side of coconut rice. It was thee perfect pairing! Simple but delicious and savory sauce with tender short ribs on top of sweet coconut rice... I wish I wasn't so full off of the other dishes and beer because I definitely was still craving more after we left! Lastly, we had to try the lychee panna cotta which was a great end to our meal. You definitely get the lychee flavor in with the creamy panna cotta that is oh so good when dipped in the strawberry sauce given on the side. Overall, we had the best experience for an unexpected new restaurant in town. I have never had Burmese food in Marin and I am very excited that this will be a successful restaurant! Thank goodness we live so close because we will definitely be back for more :)

I had the best salmon I have ever had in Burmatown last night. Really!!! We have been there three times and it never disappoints. The staff is wonderful and the mother-daughter team who owns it turn out the most delicious meals.

  • Lindsay W.

Wonderful experience. The food is thoughtful and so is their staff. The angel wings were amazing. The plata, we were told, is made laboriously from scratch and it is easy to believe once you try it. Thank you for a great date night.

I have not stopped thinking about this place since I went. I love Burmese food and Burmatown definitely exceeded my expectations. They describe themselves as Burmese-American fusion, which I think is ingenious. Must try's: Angel Wings - Extremely similar taste to Marnee Thai's but not dry like they can be at Marnee Thai (the last times I went to MT, they made incisions in the wings so they would cook faster, drying them out). These were super moist and flavorful! Kimchee Potstickers - My favorite part of the meal. Really nice, delicate skin on these. Next time I go, I am going to ask if I can buy these in bulk so I can freeze them. Garlic noodles - These were probably the BEST garlic noodles I have ever had. Better than any Vietnamese Dungeness crab place (PPQ, Thanh Long). Everything else we ordered was good as well. These were the items that really stuck out in my mind. I know they are constantly changing their menu, so I can't wait to be back to try more! Overall, great neighborhood gem!

I came here for the tea leaf salad- it was one of the best I have ever had!! In addition to that I had a delectable pork and pumpkin curry that was fresh and spicy and just perfect and pork and kimchee potstickers that knocked my socks off. The service was great as well. The staff was quite knowledgeable about the food and incredibly friendly. Really worth a visit!!

I would LOVE to give this place 5 stars and frequent them consistently, but please for the love of god GIVE US MORE FOOD! I'm so sad. I love burmese food, and this food was excellent. I would come here weekly. But when we spend $50 on 2 entrees, rice and salad, I really don't want to walk away hungry. That's inexcusable, especially for an Asian restaurant. The standard food box to-go containers were barely half full for each entrée! So sad. But so stingy. Be stingy on your food, your customers will be stingy with coming back. :(

My mom and decided to pop in one Friday night and the place was packed. They quickly cleared a spot for us and service was quick and really great. Our waiter was great about explaining all the dishes to us. The tea leaf salad was very good. The wings were so yummy I can't wait to go back and have more! The desert was good. The chef came around and talk to everyone and it is a mother/daughter team. I love the restaurant and highly recommend! I look forward to coming again and trying more items on the menu.

We keep returning to this small, neighborhood restaurant. Lovely owners, chef and staff. Tea leaf salad has become a favorite. Tonight had roasted shishito peppers, which were great, and a MOST delicious Japanese Chicken Curry Pot Pie. Hope all the locals support this great place, although a part of me wants to keep it a secret.

I was super excited for a Burmese restaurant in Marin, as we recently moved there. I was even more excited by the average rating and positive reviews on yelp. I loved the feeling of the small and cozy restaurant and was excited to get some very tasty food--but every time they brought something out (the tea leaf salad, the samusas, the chicken curry, bbq pork noodles), my husband and I were like that was ok, but not as flavorful and zesty as food we've had at Burma Superstar. It was all a little bland.

Gem of a restaurant - the food was simply fabulous! Try the tea leaf salad for starters...followed by the kimchi pot stickers and end with the garlic noodles. Love it!

Multiply my stars above by twenty. There should be a place like this in every town. The chicken bao were awesome. I would eat a hundred of them if I could and someday I will. Thanks for the really great meal, guys! I enjoyed every minute of it.

Very small establishment. Good food depending upon what you order. Be prepared for leisuely dining as the small kitchen is strained serving a 28 seat capacity along with trying to do takeout as well.

Very happy to have a Burmese option in Marin. Tea leaf salad is good, though a bit on the small side. Good curries, garlic noodles, etc. It's a tad on the pricey side relative to the portions.

So grateful to have this gem in Marin! Since moving from SF I really miss having good ethnic food (or good food, period!)...this family-run restaurant surpasses my SF favorite burmese (mandalay) by a mile! Lovely service, and fresh, interesting asian fusion (heavily slanted towards burmese). Thanks for being awesome, Burmatown!

I love Burmatown! They just opened in January, and I have already gone a handful of times! The place is very modern and a really cute restaurant. The food is to die for, I have gotten almost everything on the menu. I especially love their angel wings, tea leaf salad, platha w/ curry dip, samosas, and the chicken curry plate is really good. I am glad a Burmese restaurant is now opened in Marin, will continue coming here!

There is no other score than 5 stars I would give to this place!!! I was really intrigued by it before coming but also afraid that we won't get a table (they don't take bookings) or have a proper meal, as they only have 1 vegetarian main dish. BUT I was so possitively surprised by everything!!! The restaurant was packed (that was a really good sign) but we waited only 10min (had a nice walk around the area). When we sat down, we got a bit scared because the place was really loud, but soon enough it didn't bother us at all, probably thanks to the charming waiter who was really really good & nice :). We've had spicy beans for a starter, which were given to us on the house, because they ran out of them and had to substitute with other veggies. That was really nice of them. Then I had the vegetarian stir fry with coconut rice which was really amazing and fresh, and my husband had prawns which he really enjoed too. For the desert I got the cheesecake with mango ice cream and my husband got a mango pudding. Both were so delicious we finished them in a minute :) And another amazingly nice thing of the staff was that I ordered last piece of the cheesecake which they only had a half size, so they gave it to us for free!!! This rating is purely based on the taste, not on the amount of freebies we got :) We both were really impressed by their simple menu, fresh and tasty dishes, atmosphere, wine selection and both said we will definitely be coming back, even though it's 1,5 hours drive for us.

When a small restaurant semi off the beaten path has a line outside within weeks of opening, you know there is something really special going on. We tried it a few days ago and were very pleased to discover it. The atmosphere is plain in a good way. It's minimalist with a timely elegance. I had the chicken coconut curry with the coconut rice. Both were delicious. The owner spent a lot of time developing recipes before opening and the food reflects this. The subtle marriage of flavors is complex, soothing and etherial, without spicy heat. The mouth feel is velvety goodness.. We also tried their angel wings appetizer, one of their specialties. They are absolutely delicious with the perfect level of crispness. My husband had the appetizer which is some kind of dough with prawns inside. That was divine!!! And he had the fish in broth dish and loved it. This will become a regular haunt for us, in fact we're going again tonight!

This place is fantastic! FINALLY some great Burmese food in Marin! Apart from that, this mother-daughter team is 100% passion and you can really feel it from Jennifer's presence in the dinning room and taste it in her mother's cooking. The food is amazing, I can't wait to come back and try more! It's a small place and not a spot for a quick bite but rather a place to enjoy a delicious meal at a pace food should be enjoyed at. So grab someone you like enough to talk to for an hour, turn off your cell phone, be patient and relax-do these things and Burmatown will not disappoint. Give them a chance and they will take care of you like family! I will definitely be back!!

Really yummy food at a very, very reasonable price. Loved the green beans with shrimp and the coconut rice. Packed with locals. Lovely owners and wait staff who are eager to serve you and make you happy.

We thought the tea leaf salad was too sour/lemony.......prob best not to let them squeeze lemon on it. I asked for cooked string beans in my spicy prawn dish and they were completely raw as they stir fried them with the prawns for a very short time and string beans take longer to cook than prawns. The dish itself was tasty but a bit salty. The mixed vegetable dish and samosas were okay. With lots of people all talking while packed into a tiny space, we gave up on talking to each other as we couldn't hear each other which wasn't pleasant. It's definitely not a place we would rush back to.

We found this spot trying to kill time on a Sunday night in Marin and we really lucked out. The restaurant is tiny but has a lovely ambiance, and the sweetest staff! Menu is perfect size - 10-15 options and really reasonable prices (especially for Marin). WE started with Pork KimChi Potstickers which were really nice. We had a special which was Tofu Vegetable Stir Fry. Simple but done perfectly. We also had chicken thigh, butternut squash coconut curry, also delicious. The mango pudding for dessert was also good, not too sweet and perfect way to end the meal. Definitely would recommend AND come back!

Love this place, I literally never drive out of the City for food because I don't have to but I do go to Corte Madera just for Burmatown. Amazing food, great prices, friendly staff that's always willing to make recommendations and usually plenty of free street parking. What else is there to ask for?

Great service, great food, drinks could improve, my guess is that it will improve. I wish there was a system that discourage people/customers to sit there for so much longer after they paid while other people are on the street waiting. Rude.

My husband and I went to Burmatown last night. What wonderful food!! The angel wings are the best I've had. Very delicate sophisticated sauce, with micro cilantro on top. Amazing. Had the rainbow salad which was tart crunchy and had so many flavors. This is some of the best food in Marin County! Yum! People and wait staff friendly and helpful.

I've heard great things about this place, so I went there with my daughter last night, and it was excellent. The ambience was great, very efficient service given the size of the space. The food was great, and the menu has just enough options to mix-and-match for several different flavors. We will definitely be coming here again.

Delicious!! We had the bao, potstickrs, pumpkin pork curry and the short rib entree. We loved everything -great balance of flavors. Intimate, authentic atmosphere with great service. We had our baby and, while it's not an obvious place for kids, he was welcomed generously.

Wow, one of the best authentic Burmese restaurants in the Bay Area! I used to go to Mandalay or Burma Superstar to get my Burmese fix on, but now I am willing to travel across the bridge to get my favorites: tea leaf salad, crispy angel wings, and samosas. I heard from our server that the samosas are handmade fresh daily which pretty much shows how much the owners care about the quality of the food they serve. Not only is the food up to par, but the service is always outstanding and personable which makes it a pleasant dining experience. I do wish that the restaurant was larger however, because sometimes it feels a little too packed especially on weekends when normally there is a line. Keep up the good work Burmatown!

Awesome Burmese. Try the tea Salad and parathas! Noodles are great vegetarian. Even the cod is good. Ask for the Burmese milk tea.

Ok off the beaten path we found ( help of YELP) a small perfect diamond. From the Bao that was incredible to the bbq pork noddles to the stir fry shrimp. The flavors were only dwarfed by the hospitality. I can still taste the food long after the dishes were cleared. If you are in the area it is work the wait. One of my newest favorites. Thank you YELP!!

I don't actually recall how we'd heard about Burmatown, but I still remember our first visit here and how everything just fit like a glove: the atmosphere, the food, the space & above all the great service. We were lucky to speak to Jennifer, who is one of the business owners; she and her mother have opened up this place a few months back. In fact, she told us a little bit about the story of how she and her Mom ended up embarking on this adventure and some of the hurdles that they had to overcome. Brave souls! Jennifer helped us also pick the right items from the menu (obviously everything her mother cooks is good) but there are certainly favorites and signature dishes. The fermented tea leaf salad, a classic at Burmese restaurants around town, is a definite hit. We loved it. But the best thing in the menu were the beef bao buns. I think you can compare them with Mexican tacos only in soft rice-dough buns and with Asian flavors. My partner and I are usually not wine drinkers when we go to a restaurant. But we had a celebration and so we decided to pop a bottle. Luckily, the wine prices here are really reasonable ; I think we bought a bottle at 25 dollars. Why don't more restaurants do this pricing? - On a more malty note, their Icelandic beer (which I had on another visit) is a hit as well. All in all, I've fallen in love with Burmatown. It's great to see another "ethnic" restaurant joining the otherwise all-too-vanilla food options here in Marin.

Very pleased with this place. The BBQ Pork Garlic Noodles were amazing. The place is quite quaint. Excellent service with no hiccups. Came here after a day of hiking and it was exactly what was needed to cap that adventure. Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for something with Asian flavors.

Always busy and they don't take reservations for fewer than 6. Both times we've had the tea leaf salad, so very different than your typical salad. Appetizer highlights: Baos, Kimchi potstickers, and veggie samosas. Main courses are all standouts - we've had the basil shrimp stir fry, pork garlic noodles and a special beef ribs dish that was perfectly spicy. For us this beer is a great complement to the meal. Also order the brown rice. We've been too full to order the desserts, though they look delish.

This place is fantastic!!! Amazing flavors, garlic noodles!! Everything tastes yum yum!! The only issue is the place is small. Not sure if we will get seated so have been opting for take out. But if you get there early should be seating. This is for sure some of tastiest food in Marin!

I almost didn't want to write this review as I still want to be able to get a table at Burmatown. The food is fantastic and the service couldn't be better and more friendly. The Burmtown Bao and the Tea Leaf Salad are fantastic. So far in our three times there everything has been great. My only comment is they make everything mild unless you ask (it's noted on the menu). If you like spicy, just ask and they will put in the heat. Run, don't walk, to Burmatown!

Burmatown is a small, quaint neighborhood restaurant with about a dozen tables that specializing in Burmese/Asian Fusion cuisine. The restaurant has a mixture of modern décor with a large Burmese tapestry on one wall artwork. We came here with some good friends to celebrate Valentine's Day. As with many restaurants on Valentine's Day, Burmatown had a special prix fixe menu for this special day. The prix fixe menu included a choice of appetizer, a tea leaf salad, and a choice of entrée, and special dessert to finish the meal. Appetizers: Platha and dip - crispy multi-layered flaky bread with a chicken coconut dipping sauce. Reminded me of naan and it went well with the coconut sauce. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/burm… ) Minced chicken lettuce cups - nicely seasoned chicken that you wrap in the butter leaf lettuce leaves. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/burm… ) Tea Leaf salad - Burmese fermented tea leaves, green cabbage, romaine hearts, dried shrimp, mixed Burmese nuts, jalapeno and garlic-lime dressing. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/burm… ) Entrees: Miyosaki sea bass in dashi broth served with baby bok choy and shitake. A delicate tasting dish. Sea bass was moist in a tasty dashi broth. Braised oxtail stew with carrots and potatoes served with jasmine rice. Oxtails were fall-off the bone tender in a very tasty sauce. Rice was a perfect accompaniment to sop up the gravy. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/burm… ) Strawberry shortcake with a chocolate dipped strawberry. Good dessert, but an option with more of an Asian influence would have been nice. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/burm… ) Given that the menu choices were limited to the prix fixe menu, a return visit is needed to enjoy Burmatown's other menu offerings.

It's nice that Marin got a new Asian restaurant that wasn't just more of the same (I was sad to see Sea Thai go - however it had slid a lot since it first opened). It's in a relatively small space and has a relatively small menu. The crispy angel wings were very good. The kimchi potstickers seemed rather gimmicky to me. I would have expected more heat/garlic from the kimchi. However the garlic noodles more than made up for the lack of garlic in the potstickers. The bao's were also very good. The curries that I've had (Burmese chicken, Coconut Chicken and Beef shortrib) all surprised me in how mild they were. The flavors were good but when I order something with curry in the name Im looking for at least a little heat.

Awesome spot! Been here more then a hand full of times and so far great experience all around! Small place with good food and great service. They have just the right amount of options on the menu where you don't go crazy picking a dish. Not to mention a list of daily specials. Must try the Tea leaf salad, kimchi potstickers, and the mussels. I'll definitely be back again:)

Wow - two amazing dinners in two days! I'm on a roll! First on Monday, it was Picco Restaurant, And yesterday, my friends and I got to meet the new kid on the block - Burmatown. Let's just say, Burmatown and I are going to become very good friends. I see this relationship lasting for a very long time. Important to note - this restaurant doesn't accept reservations (unless you're a party of 6 or more). Fortunately, there were half a dozen in our group, so we called a week in advance. But if you are planning on doing a walk-in, be prepared to wait a while outside. The small space fills up quickly. The place is certainly cozy to say the least. It feels more like someone's living room than a restaurant. Fortunately, the friendly service matches that home-like feel. Everyone truly made us feel welcome. Our servers were all smiles and had a great sense of humor. This is by no means a stuffy Asian restaurant. But let's get to the food. It's AMAZE-BALLS! We ordered like 5 or 6 dishes to share with the table. Every item we ordered was divine, including: the Tea Leaf Salad (which they prepare table-side), the garlic pork noodles, the vegetarian samosas with dipping sauce, and a Burmese twist on tacos (which come in beef, chicken, and shrimp). I'm seriously salivating right now as I recap our meal. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed to tackle dessert. But I guess that just gives me an excuse to come back. All in all, our meal for 6 + wine cost us $180 (sans tips), which is pretty damn reasonable. Two things are for certain though - no one left the restaurant hungry, and everyone left satisfied. Keep up the great work, Burmatown!

Oh Burmatown, you have the right idea and Marin needs a Burmese restaurant.I wanted to like this place but it just didn't add up. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things? Took the mom and hubby here last Friday and the place is small and cute. We were able to be seated right away at 7pm. The servers were really nice, and more than one person checked in on us. Unfortunately, we just didn't care for the food. Started with a fave, the tea leaf salad, and we all thought it was very sour and vinegar-y. They pride themselves by fermenting tea leaves in house which I think is cool. Next we had the coconut chicken curry which was pretty mild in flavor- couldn't taste much curry. Lastly, we had the garlic pork noodles, which we all felt were super salty. Like I said, we were checked in on several times, so we could have complained about the food/ sent dishes back but my mother and husband were kinda antsy to leave after this bust. I definitely want to come back and give it another try- good luck to them!

No more having to drive all the way to SF to get great Burmese food!!! We've been back 2-3 times since our fist visit and the food and service have been impeccable each and every time. We have a few favorites we always order(the tea leaf salad and angel wings for instance); but we're also really glad the menu has specials that change to reflect whats in season.

We discovered this incredible gem of a place not long after they had opened. I almost don't want to post a review, since they have become insanely popular (and deservedly so), but this is such a fantastic experience it would be selfish to not let others know. With a mother (chef) and daughter (manager) team (both named Jennifer) in charge of this wonderfully friendly and welcoming restaurant, coupled with creative cooking, traditional Burmese dishes (The Tea Leaf Salad is a must!), and a fun, upbeat and happy staff, this is our favorite restaurant in Marin. No reservations are taken, you add your name to a clipboard if they are full and chat with others waiting out front. Drinks are handed out by the staff while you wait! Inside the space is intimate, and beautifully decorated. Tiny vases with fresh flowers grace each table, the service is fast and attentive, and the food... Is to die for. Our favorites include the Tea Leaf Salad, Bao "tacos" with plump shrimp or chicken, the Barbequed Pork Noodles, and the Basil Shrimp Stir Fry (with coconut rice). Heat levels are generally tame, but beware if you ask for extra... Chef Jenni will gladly ratchet the chile content upward! (We are often treated to a complimentary bowl of incendiary sauce which suits our tastebuds). Other delights include Spicy Chicken Wings, Kimchi Potstickers, and a list of daily specials. A short list of perfect wines that pair wonderfully with the food is offered at very reasonable mark-ups, and beer is also offered. We have taken many friends and family members visiting from out of town and are always treated like family ourselves. I cannot recommend Burmatown highly enough... Insider hint: arrive early if you can - 5:30 is perfect. After that, you can expect a line. Closed Monday's, but deservedly busy every other night of the week.

I LOVE BURMATOWN. Period. There is simply nothing about it that I don't completely adore. Burmatown opened right as we were just settling into Corte Madera and needing a new date spot for delicious fusion Burmese food. The restaurant is right off the Corte Madera Square. It is definitely an oasis in a town that does not have much going on in terms of quality food. The inside is small (~12 small tables) and cozy. They have done really well with the decorating, blending modern decor (mirrors, mason jars) with traditional (burmese tapestry) which adds to the "fusion" style. The chef is very artistic with the food, taking care of taste, texture and presentation. Every time that I have been presented with a plate, nothing about it has ever been "off". Our favorite is the bao (steamed bun) that is used as a sort of taco. The fillings often change; our favorite so far has been the panko-crusted chicken. The bun texture is perfection. Every other high-end place in which I've ordered bao has had a problem with the bun getting a bit soggy/wet, but not here. Other favorites are the tea leaf salad, the bbq pork noodles, the mohinga soup (a thick fish noodle soup that is delicious and comforting) and the platha and coconut dip. As if it wasn't enough that the food is amazing and the location is perfect for all of us living in Corte Madera, the peeps working at Burmatown are simply LOVELY. So welcoming and genuinely friendly, good people. I rave like this because I honestly couldn't have asked for better. As a last note, don't be surprised if the place is full on any given night (but especially weekends). The combination of a small dining room/how good it is means that people are going to go and will be willing to wait. This doesn't mean that they are slow, but it's not going to going to be plated 4 minutes after you order. If you want quick food, then I would recommend coming back on a different night.

We visited Burmatown last night for a family dinner. We had heard good things about the place, and whenever we have driven by it, there is usually a line out the door. Also, having grown up on Burmese food (and my kids loving Grandma's cooking), our hopes were high. Burmatown exceeded our expectations on all fronts. The flavors on all of the dishes we tried were the most authentic I have had in all of the Bay Area. From the handmade Samosas to the traditional chicken curry, everything looked and tasted great. Second, the service was incredibly warm and attentive, the staff (including a surprise table visit from Chef Jenny) really made us feel welcomed. The dishes looked fabulous, and the ingredients were clearly super fresh. Save room for dessert - among the five of us, we sampled the tastey lychee ice cream, mango pudding, and a traditional Burmese coconut cake - we all could not agree on a favorite! The sole disappointment for us was that we went into the restaurant initially hoping to enjoy a bowl of Moh Hinga (fish soup), but given the hot weather, it was not being served that evening. Jennifer, our server, took our EMAIL address and said they will notify us next time it is being served! Apparently, they maintain a running list of patrons craving this....Turning lemons into lemonade...How's that for a personal touch! At the end of the evening, it was pleasing to see all of our dishes wiped clean---(SIDE NOTE: my kids are not the best eaters in the world.) As we were getting ready to leave, my oldest son asked me, "Hey Dad, when are we coming back?" My reply: "Soon, I hope...And often."

Everything was amazing. Every single appetizer was phenomenal. Platha & dip was a good start. Kimchi potstickers was light and sweet. Bao's buns chicken was perfectly done. Tea leaf salad well balanced. Nori French fries were very subtle. Best for me tonight: Japanese curry chicken pot pie special!

Visiting the area from San Francisco, we decided to stay local for dinner. We found Burmatown on Yelp. We had a party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us without any problems. Burmatown dishes are very tasty and comparable to that of good SF establishments like Burma Superstar and Mandalay. We ordered the tea salad, angel wings, BBQ pork garlic noodles, Burmatown boas, Burmese chicken curry noodles, beef short rib, and an assortment of rice. Burmatown boas are out of this world (both the shrimp ones and the beef ones)! We also made some room for desserts, lichee cake and mango pudding which were both delicious down to the last bite. Who knew we could find such a good restaurant in the heart of Corte Madera! We were also treated to the special chili dipping sauce for folks who appreciate the spicy things in life. You've got to ask for it. The chef, hostess, and waitstaff were all attentive and personable. We had an enjoyable dining experience at Burmatown.

This place is amazing! A tiny hole in the wall location but everything we ordered was fantastic. The tea leaf salad and miso black cod stood out. Service was quick but very friendly and casual, perfect for a local vibe. They even made some dishes special order for our kids. Honestly, the best new restaurant in Marin hands down. This has been a tough location over the years, but Burmatown has a line out the door.

This is a new establishment in the Corte Madera area. Although they have not officially had their grand opening, they have been hosting private parties and soft openings as they prepare for their grand opening. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend my friend's private birthday party at Burmatown. This is a small restaurant but it seems that it can accommodate up to 30-40 guests. This seems like a great place to host a small private gathering. Burmatown offered a prix fixe menu of 8 items at $45 per person. The eight items came out as family style dishes in which 3-4 people share each dish. The portions were plenty! By the time we got to the 5th or 6th item, we were already stuffed! So we definitely had some leftovers. In addition, the owner was nice enough to offer us some samosas complimentary to our meal. Yum. We also had 2 desserts instead of just one! The eight items included: -- Pratha, which was a Burmese multilayer bread that came paired with a curry dipping sauce. The multiple layers made the bread very soft to eat. The dipping sauce was a light curry, perfect for an appetizer. -- Tea leaf salad, which had many different nuts from Burma. It comes out very colorfully separated on the dish. The waiter explained all the ingredients to us and then proceeded to squeeze the fresh lemon juice on top of the dish. He then carefully mixed the tea leaf salad together for us to try. This is very healthy and has many different textures to it, including crunchiness and softness. This is definitely one of the must-try foods! -- Fish soup with noodles. The two parts come separately and the waiter helped us separate the soup into bowls. Apparently you are supposed to eat this with your spoon and just cut the noodles against your bowl as you eat. It was delicious! -- Garlic noodles that were sooooo creamy! Some garlic noodles are dry but this one wasn't. There was a perfect amount of garlic flavor! -- Chicken curry with kabocha pumpkin. The orange color really does come from the kabocha pumpkin and that pumpkin adds some sweetness to the dish. It'd be great to eat over some rice, which they provided us. I loved this for lunch the next day too since we had some leftovers. -- Beef stew. This dish is also great over some rice. It comes in a somewhat thick brownish sauce that mixes well with rice to add flavor to it. The beef was very tender and pulls apart easily. -- Green beans, which came out last before the dessert. This one was very flavorful and savory. -- Lychee panna cotta that had real lychee pieces in it! This was soft and smooth, but not too sweet. It also came out with a little bit of strawberry sauce to pair with it. Perfect! As a bonus, we were also offered mango pudding. I really love mango pudding and this one was definitely great! I thought I was full until I was offered two desserts! I just couldn't help myself but to eat both! Although this is what we had, I know they are still making efforts to work out their menu and what they have to offer. So things may change based on what feedback they will get. However, I am sure that the owners are committed to excellence and cannot wait to see what else they have to offer after their grand opening. The staff was very attentive and definitely cared about our opinions of their food and service. They checked on us often and asked us what we liked or what could be improved. In addition, they gave us score cards so that we could leave comments. They were near perfect when we went there in December so I can only expect that they will be pretty amazing when they have their grand opening in mid-January! Stay tuned!
